Spartan Motors got its start in 1976 building custom fire truck cabs and chassis. Drawing on substantial expertise in engineering and design, the Company developed a successful formula that blends high-quality products, innovative features, excellent customer service and competitive pricing.
Spartan leveraged its experience in the fire industry to enter the recreational vehicle market during the 1980s. The Company began building custom chassis for Class A motorhomes, and now is the category leader in the rear-engine diesel-pusher market.
In the 1990s, Spartan expanded its product offerings by acquiring three longtime customers: fire apparatus manufacturers Luverne Fire Apparatus and Quality Manufacturing, and ambulance manufacturer Road Rescue. Luverne and Quality were consolidated under the Crimson Fire brand in 2003. Crimson completed its product line in 2004 with the launch of its aerial division. Spartan Motors is focused on becoming the premier manufacturer of specialty vehicles and chassis in North America. The Company utilizes a stakeholder model of operation that seeks to establish strategic partnerships with its core groups: associates, OEMs, dealers, suppliers, consumers, shareholders and the communities in which we live and work.
